Black Bull Hotel - Kirkby Stephen

This place suits me perfectly, with free wi-fi, a cozy bar/lounge area, and helpful staff who always resolve any issues. On my first stay, the staff helped me with some technical troubles. I highly recommend it for a relaxed time, and I'm coming back for Christmas.

Our stay here was very good, good base for exploring Kirkby Stephen. The room was pretty nice and with comfortable beds. It was in the central location to the Lake District in a couple of weeks. Had hot drinks in the main bar in the evening.

The units were well-appointed and extremely pleasant with twin beds.

Lovely room on the top floor, but the window was very difficult to open.

Stayed here with some pals for a night. Super convenient location! Loved that our room had a bath, really took the edge off after a long day. The staff were nice too! But the carpet was super stained, not great. The bar area was chill for grabbing a drink at the end of the day.

Had a lovely stay with a delicious sausage baguette for lunch and a hearty English breakfast the next morning. The cozy bar area and the inviting lounge were perfect for relaxation after a long day. The only hiccup was the breakfast situation, but the staff handled it well and offered a refund. 🍽️

The location boasts cozy spaces perfect for unwinding after a long day, with open fires providing a warm atmosphere. The menu offers decent meals, like the Cumberland sausage baguette, at fair prices.

Upon arrival, there was a mix-up with our room. We initially received a double bed instead of the expected twin. The breakfast situation was underwhelming, with only packets of instant coffee and an odd policy to charge for toast. Some rooms show signs of age, especially the bathrooms, which could use a refresh. Noise from the shared walls and the communal area can disrupt sleep, and it seems some locals get preferential treatment in service.

And the restaurant served one of the best fish and chips I've ever had, with generous portions and great presentation. I found the shower temperature a bit inconsistent, which could use some improvement.

We stayed for 2 nights in a superior family room and loved the old-school vibe of the place. The staff were super cute, and having a resident dog around made it even better. The bar area was nice for chill evenings. Just wish the WiFi worked better in the rooms.

The cozy decor. I woke up to fine views of the countryside every morning, perfect for soaking in nature's beauty. The local dining experience was delicious and created a warm atmosphere to unwind after a day of exploring.

We enjoyed a fantastic weekend here with a great breakfast with fresh berries and nuts, and the location was perfect for exploring several parks and landmarks just a short walk away, making our city strolls enjoyable.

A Charming Stay with Room for Improvement

Dinner at the on-site pub was good, but be mindful of the early closing time. For a better experience, an insider's guide would have been helpful to navigate the facilities.
